10th June 2017 - Newport photographic Club took part in the Barrian Cup. This is competition hosted by Barry Camera Club every year and is attended by 20+ Clubs.


5 images from each club compete for the Barrian Cup. Also a sepearte Prize called the Dave Cowdrey Cup is awarded for the best Landscape or Seescape Image. - Visit Barry CC Website for more details

18th December 2020

Newport Photographic Club sadly report the passing of Past President and Honorary Member Peter Ekin Wood.

A professional Photo-journalist before an Editorial appointment with the Newport Argus. One of his last talks was to Cymru Mono in 2019 when he brought cameras from his collection together with B&W images from interviewing and photographing celebrities. Peter was an active member of NPC and a supporter of the WPF; competing and presenting until his retirement to the Gower. We shall miss his wry view and insights into the world of commercial (news) photography – our thoughts go out to his family.


11th August 2018 - Photographing Classic Bike Racing at Pembrey.

3 members decided to attend the Classic Bike Racing at Pembrey. After a fabulous Summer it was dissapointing that it was raining on the day. Not put off by the rain we soldiered on in difficult conditions and achieved some of the images below.

20th July 2018 - Photgraphing the Second Severn Bridge.

7 Club members set ou on a changeable evening to capture some imges of the second Severn Bridge. Evening started well with some moody clouds but sadly we were soon rained off. Anumber of images were captured and we retired to the pub to discussthe evening.

Panoramic Shot of the second Severn Bridge.

This image consisted 0f 10 individual images stitched together using Adobe Lightroom. For best reults use manual exposure and ensure the same settings are used for each individual image. This captures the light evenly and alows lightroom o seamlesly produce a panoramic image.

After picking a path on the grass it was possible to get a little closer alowing a shot of the low tide of the River Severn.
